Special scholarship named after Vidya Balan
Mumbai: Powerhouse performer, National award winner and Padma Shri winner Vidya Balan, is probably amongst the most versatile actors the country has ever seen. The actress, who will next be seen in Mohit Suri’s 'Humari Adhuri Kahani' , is soon to be conferred with a honorary doctorate for her contribution to Indian cinema and for empowering women in the country.
If that wasn’t all, Rai University who will be bestowing Vidya Balan with the title will, also launch a special scholarship program in her honor. The “Vidya Balan University Scholarship” , is a scholarship which includes free education for under privileged girls. This includes completely free University education for the entire duration of degree program at Rai University, including boarding and lodging for one underprivileged girl nominated by Vidya every year.
Confirming the news Dr.Harbeen Arora, Chancellor, Rai University said, “In my capacity as Chancellor, Rai University, I extend my deepest respects for Vidya’s exceptional contribution to Indian Film Industry. Among the league of iconic actors, she truly is a pioneer in every way. As a distinguished recipient, Rai University will also institute a special scholarship in her name as “Vidya Balan University Scholarship”. The Scholarship in Vidya’s honor will be fully funded by Rai University and Vidya herself will nominate a under privileged girl for the same every year”.
