Karnataka BJP unit celebrating NDA rule, the ‘Jana Kalyana Parva’ way
BENGALURU: Leaders of the state unit of BJP will go to the people once again—this time to highlight the achievements of the year-old Union government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—through a state-wide campaign scheduled for launch by party president Amit Shah in Mysuru on June 10. During the ‘Jana Kalyaan Parva’ campaign, the state unit would strive to neutralise the criticism of Mr Modi’s government by Opposition parties.
“Through these conventions, we will give a fitting reply to the criticism of the Modi government, and will also highlight various programmes and achievements of the NDA government,” state unit president, Pralhad Joshi, told the media here on Thursday. He said following up on its first stage of membership drive, party leaders would commence visits to houses of newly enrolled members and ‘map’ the families of each new member. “Our aim is to create the largest data bank of our party workers,” he added.
On World Yoga Day, June 21, Mr Joshi said party leaders and workers were instructed to organise functions everywhere and demonstrate yogic postures and to connect with people. He said the state unit has directed heads of district units to prepare a plan for constructing a building to house the party office in every district. “We have set a deadline of December 2016 to have our own building to house our district office. This issue be discussed and settled before July end,” he added.
Coming down heavily on the Congress government for dropping cases against members of KFD and PFI, Mr Joshi said a few of them were involved in anti-national activities. “The Congress party, which is fast losing popularity, is trying to keep Muslims happy so it is a desperate attempt to consolidate its position,” he added and lambasted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not taking action against home minister, K.J. George and his advisor, Kempaiah.
“We, the BJP, are not interested in who the government will suspend or arrest. You (government) did not take action against the culprits for two years. Now, you have woken up. It is unfortunate that action is not being pursued against an inefficient and unfit home minister.”
When asked about rumours about involvement of former DGP Shankar Bidari in lottery scam, a member of BJP, Mr Joshi said, “I am not bothered who is involved. Let them take action against whoever is involved. But, how can you condone laxity on the part of the home minister?”
