Karnataka government slammed for delay in seer’s case
Shivamogga: The Havyaka Samana Manaska Vedike has criticised the government for unnecessarily wasting time in dealing with the case against Raghaveshwara Bharati seer. In a communiqué, the Vedike led by lawyer Ashok Bhat, K. Srinivas, T.T. Hegde and Chipli Gopalkrishnarao objected to the reluctance of the government in taking the case against the seer to its logical conclusion.
Speaking to this correspondent, Vedike convener C.B.L. Hegde said though the CID’s appeal to the high court seeking three more medical tests on the seer was dismissed, no petition was submitted in court against this verdict. Though the high court had certified that the seer’s DNA test in a rape case is positive, no chargesheet has been submitted even after six months.
He also said that the CID had summoned the seer for an inquiry but he had not made an appearence. The Vedike appealed to the state government to speed up the case and instruct the CID to submit the chargesheet at the earliest.
