It’s been a decade since Anushka Shetty entered the industry and it looks like the actress has finally come into her own. In Chennai to promote Baahubali which will be a showcase film for the actress.
She says she is proud of how it has shaped up. “I am sure it’s going to be a benchmark for Indian cinema. Rajamouli garu has proved himself in this genre. I haven’t dubbed for the movie since it is a period film and the dialects are hard to get right. But I performed all the stunts on my own. I didn’t use a body-double,” she says.
“We were asked to actually fight so that the scenes would be authentic. I was not apprehensive because we had been trained, but my problem was that I would laugh a lot. I would always giggle and before each shot, the director would come up to me and say, ‘Anushka, stop laughing and please come to the mood of the scene’,” she added.
Anushka is one of the industry’s most eligible heroines, but clearly is in no hurry to settle down. Ask her about marriage and the actress laughs. “In the last six years, there have been umpteen numbers of rumours on my marriage. When I came to the industry in 2005, I didn’t make a plan for when I would get married. I just went with the flow. My wedding will happen when the time is right. I believe that marriage is an important part of life. So when it happens, I will definitely let the whole world know.” She refused to talk about whether she had met Mr Right, but when asked if she has been in love, she immediately retorted, “Of course! How can you not fall for someone for so many years?”
Her upcoming project includes the much-talked about Inji Iduppazhagi with Arya, for which the actress needs to pile on the pounds. In fact, she confirmed that she is going to gain a whopping 14 kgs for the role. The former yoga instructor seemed unperturbed by this and signed off saying she is looking forward to her new acting challenges.
