Garbage mess: Karnataka High Court angry with BBMP administrator’s absence
BENGALURU: The high court on Friday expressed its dissatisfaction as BBMP administrator T.M. Vijay Bhaskar remained absent during a hearing pertaining to burgeoning garbage mess in Bengaluru.
The court during its previous hearing had asked the administrator, who was then newly appointed, to study its earlier orders on the matter. The division bench headed by Justice N. Kumar, observed that the court had granted time to the administrator to study and come up with solutions, but his absence showed how serious he was with the issue.
Setback for Renuka
In a setback to former excise minister M.P. Renukacharya, the high court on Friday dismissed the prosecution’s plea challenging a lower court order refusing to accept the request to withdraw several cases, including disturbing public peace, against Mr Renukacharya and a few others registered between 2004 and 2008. The then BJP government had approached the lower court with the application to withdraw all such cases, but the court had rejected the plea.
Government order stayed
The HC stayed the state government’s order to hand over the properties earlier leased out to Anjaneya Swamy temple near Minto Hospital in Bengaluru, to Male Mahadeshwara Swamy Temple Trust in Chamarajanagar. The court took exception to a note sent by minister Mahadev Prasad, who is also Chamarajanagar district in-charge minister.
