BJP supports Vasundhara Raje’s son too
The transactions between Dushyant Singh’s firm and the former IPL commissioner were legal says BJP
New Delhi: External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, hours before taking an Air India flight to New York late on Friday evening, to attend Sunday’s UN International Yoga Day event, was active on Twitter, addressing problems faced by Indians overseas.
Ms Swaraj earlier on Friday assisted the Prime Minister in his extensive talks with Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. BJP Rajasthan unit chief Ashok Parnami and minister Rajendra Rathore claimed that the transactions between Dushyant Singh’s firm and the former IPL commissioner were “legal”.
Mr Rathore alleged that a company in which former chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot was a legal consultant had received black money from a Mauritius-based company, and that no inquiry was ordered by the former Congress government. Both state leaders said misleading allegations were being levelled on Ms Raje and her son.
They said that the entire party was behind Ms Raje and supported her. On questions raised over investments made in Mr Dushyant Singh’s company by Mr Lalit Modi’s company, the BJP said it was not a new issue and the facts had been mentioned in his income-tax returns as well his affidavit before the Lok Sabha polls.
Before catching her flight to New York, Ms Swaraj was on Twitter helping a number of Indians living overseas with their problems. One person sought her help for his daughter in the United States, but said he could not discuss the problem on Twitter. Ms Swaraj promptly asked the man if his daughter could meet her in New York on Saturday.
