Fat sums for a movie star's body
Celebrity trainer Yasmin Karachiwala reveals what it takes to have a movie star’s body
Hyderabad: Ever wondered what it would cost to have the stunning body of a movie star? Celebrity trainer Yasmin Karachiwala, who trains A-listers like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Ileana D’Cruz, and others, tells us about what it takes to have their fabulous bodies.
A lot of hard work:
“People think actors live in luxury, but they have to work really hard for it. You have to work out no matter how long you have to shoot for. You can’t skip any workouts for any reason. For this, you have to be really dedicated towards your craft,” Yasmin says.
The workout regimen depends on the kind of role an actress is playing. “When Katrina was shooting for Dhoom 3, we did a lot of strength-training as the role demanded that. She would work out twice a day for a month to achieve that sculpted body. Again, Deepika had to wear short dresses for Cocktail so we concentrated on her legs with functional training and Pilates,” Yasmin says.
Pilates creates a balance in workouts. The workout is customised according to an individual’s body type. “When Alia had come to me, she was already thin, but her body had no shape. So I started her off with squats, Pilates, functional training, TRX and so on,” Yasmin says. Even on outdoor shoots, a personal trainer is always on hand to monitor work out and diet plans.
The diet factor:
Sugar, butter, cheese, alcohol and carbs after 7 pm are not allowed. “Have a meal every two to three hours – like cornflakes – which consists of proteins, fibre and fats. For snacks, have half a corn or dry muesli and post 7 pm – fish and veggies,” Yasmin says.
“I don’t recommend those supplements if your body gets enough nutrition anyway, unless a doctor has recommended them,” Yasmin says.
Time and cost factor:
If you are already fit, it will take 60 to 90-minute workouts daily for three months to achieve a movie star’s body. If you are out of shape, it would take about a year. “If a person with 32 per cent body fat works out, three months would make no difference,” Yasmin adds.
Sources from the fitness industry say that a celebrity trainer would cost at least between the range of Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 per month, meaning that a fit person would have to shell out close to Rs 1.5 lakh for three months, whereas for an average Fat Joe, it could be Rs 6 lakh for a year! And this is just for the gym training. A top nutritionist and physiotherapist would cost another small fortune.
