Dairy woes of West Bengaluru people
Bengaluru: Residents of parts of West Bengaluru and those living around Mysuru Road have a strange complaint. Though they are living in the city limits, they are receiving Nandini milk and other products from Mandya instead of Mother Dairy in Bengaluru. They also allege that the products from Mandya, like milk, curds and butter milk, are of inferior quality as compared to Bengaluru plant’s products.
Residents in Vijayanagar, Nagarabhavi, Moodalapalya and Mysuru Road complained that the difference in the quality has been noticed for the last few days. Ms Reshma G. Bhat, a resident of Nagarbhavi, said that milk products she buys from milk booths near her area are getting spoilt fast. “Milk curdles within a few hours of boiling. The quality of curds and butter milk is also bad. Earlier when I was staying in Jayanagar, I bought Nandini products from Mother dairy, they were very good. When I enquired with milk booth owners in our areas, they said that for the last few days milk and other products are being supplied from the Mandya dairy. But still, they have not been able to explain why the products are getting spoilt fast. We are now forced to buy milk and milk products from near our workplaces,” she said.
Complaining of a similar problem, another customer said that people bought Nandini products because of quality, and they felt cheated. “Why can’t they supply the milk products from Bengaluru Dairy? After all, we all live within city limits,” he said.
Mr Ravikumar Kakagde, Director (Marketing), KMF, said, “This is news to me. I have not heard of any such complaints till now. We will definitely look into the issue immediately. We will collect the samples of milk supplied and get it tested.”
