Make-up artist Bianca Hartkopf who has given Katrina Kaif a stunning look in her latest Fitoor, besides a few other films, spoke to us about life behind the scenes. Excerpts:
When did you decide to become a professional makeup artiste?
Having a passion to draw and having a mom who was an art teacher inspired me to take up the art of painting faces. I started off as an ice skater and a ballet dancer, doing make-up for other artistes at that time. That’s when I found my calling.
Among the celebs you have worked with, who is your favourite?
Freida Pinto holds a special place in my heart — she has a spectacular bubbly personality. I admire that she has taken Bollywood to the rest of the world.
How is Katrina to work with?
We have been working together from the beginning of my career in Bollywood, five years ago. She is a true inspiration, and I admire her dedication. She’s a true star in the industry. I was asked to do Fitoor, set against the beautiful backdrop of Kashmir. It’s great to see Kat in a different character and new red hairdo.
What was the brief for Katrina’s look?
It was modern-meets-vintage, while making it look as real as possible to fit the milieu of the film.
