Asin’s absence frowned upon
She had a spectaclar start with Aamir Khan in Ghajini but hasn’t been able to follow that up with anything worthwhile yet. She was the toast of town then, when she swept all the awards right from under the nose of Anushka Sharma, the other debutante opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Today the tables seem to have turned. Anushka has clearly raced ahead in terms of the sheer number of films she has done in Bollywood while Asin is barely seen or heard of.
A top producer in the industry says, “Asin had it all, the looks and the talent. She squandered it with her high-handed attitude. She rejected plum assignments with the biggest of production houses to do big-budgeted films with top heroes. Those films did nothing to her career. When she said no to Mukesh Bhatt he prophesied she won’t last long. Sadly, his words seem to have come true.”
A close source also claims that Asin has a controlling father who has a say in all matters in her life, be it personal or professional. Even though Asin is not dependent on him anymore, according to those close to her, the damage is done.
But there are a few positive thinkers too. Umesh Shukla who has cast Asin in All Is Well feels she will definitely make a comeback with this one. He says, “She is a brilliant actress, very expressive. She deserves success. I loved her work in Ghajini and many of her films down South. No one can stop talent.”
