Wednesday evening will not be forgotten for a long time here. It’s not everyday, you have international musician Chris Martin, lead vocalist and co-founder of Coldplay jam with fellow musicians such as Vishal Dadlani, Raghu Dixit and sing his popular songs. So, when Chris along with actress Freida Pinto, who’re a part of Global Poverty Project in India, decided to pay an impromptu visit at Summer House Café at Aurobindo Place, Hauz Khas, it was no longer a dull summer evening.
Anchit Kapil, co-owner of Summer House Café informs is in a daze. He shares, “We got a call 15 minutes before Chris Martin and Freida Pinto arrived. They called in at 11.15 pm and walked in at 11.30 pm. I utilised those 10-15 minutes to set the stage and call in extra bouncers for Chris’ security. We had a total of 10 bouncers. It was a regular evening and we had a crowd of 100-150 people or so.
We didn’t turn away any of our guests and we didn’t create any noise either as we didn’t want to attract too many cliental. When he walked in, few of the guests informed their friends in South Delhi and we had 30-40 people came in. Martin sang his favourite songs and our favourite songs like as Viva la Vida, Yellow, Fix You, Paradise. He mesmerised all of us.”
Chris was there for an hour, and naming guests who were with him, Anchit says, “There were people from All India Bakchod, Raghu Dixit, Vishal Dadlani, Freida Pinto and Chris Martin. Mr Martin didn’t eat anything, he had a martini, and we’re naming a martini after him, we’ll call it the Chris Martini. They were there for an hour. The crowd was in a state of shock, everyone was in a state of shock, except the bouncers who didn’t know who he is.
Though I missed it too as I had left the venue at 10.45 pm and by the time I came back, they had left. I arranged every single thing over the phone, so I don’t feel like I wasn’t there physically…even though I am friendless now, as all my friends believe I didn’t inform them on purpose.”
According to our source, Chris Martin and Freida Pinto met Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modion Thursday and on Friday they’re intending to visit one more site in the capital as part of Global Poverty Project.
