Shilpa said dance your heart out: Shamita Shetty

Shamita Shetty who was last seen in 2006’s movie Cash has been away from the limelight for quite some time now. Now she is back as a contestant on the latest season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Ask her what has kept her busy and she quips, “I have been busy with interior designing. The show was offered to me a while ago as well but I had committed to interiors projects. Added to that, I had some injures I needed to recover from. This time when the offer came, I had to accept because I love dancing. I had to work on strengthening my back, which wasn’t very difficult as I have always been heavily into fitness.”

Since her sister Shilpa Shetty has been a judge on another dance reality show, Nach Baliye, did any tips come in from her side? She says. “The only thing Shilpa told me was ‘Dance your heart out and enjoy the journey’. Honestly, I’ve not seen the previous seasons but I do know dance shows are popular.”

Shamita has company on the show — her friends Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor and Ganesh Hegde — comprise the judges’ panel. She says, “Keeping in mind their knowledge of dance, I am sure they are great judges. And yes, they are friends, so it will be fun working with them.” So, does this mean we will see more of Shamita on television? “Maybe, I will do fiction, I don’t want to restrict myself.”
