Congress steps up attack, demands Raman Singh’s ouster
Congress on Saturday stepped up its attack on Raman Singh
New Delhi: A couple of days back, confirming the alleged threats, the SIT chief Justice Chandresh Bhushan (Retd), probing the scam, had told the media: “Yes, they had made a representation to me regarding some threatening calls to them, like ‘Hum dekh lenge (We will see you...)”. I have forwarded their grievances to the Madhya Pradesh high court, which is monitoring the probe.”
The Congress on Saturday stepped up its attack on Mr Raman Singh, demanding his resignation over a Rs 36,000-crore scam in a scheme for supplying rice through the public distribution system.
“We are exposing a Rs 36,000-crore scam in Chhattisgarh which belittles (sic) all the other BJP scams. We have found solid evidence, like diaries, pen drives and other documents, from four people, in this Nagrik Apurti scam,” senior Congress leader Ajay Maken said. According to him, the diaries “reveal benefits for not only chief minister Raman Singh, but his wife, sister-in-law, his cook and others”.
The BJP and the Modi government, which had been boasting of scam-free governance for the past one year, find themselves on a sticky wicket.
