Panchayat raj must take care of saplings: KCR

The 50-bed Peddapally hospital would be converted into 100-bed one, says KCR; lauds MLA Manohar
Karimnagar: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the Panchayat raj department should take the responsibility to implement the ongoing Haritha Haaram in rural areas. He was addressing a public meeting in Peddapalli town on Sunday.
He participated in the plantation of saplings under the ambitious programme in Peddapalli and Dharmaram as part of his two day tour here. Mr Rao said the Panchayat raj department was dedicated to the development of villages. “It is not the duty of the forest department or some other department to plant trees. Both plantation and protection of saplings in rural parts is the sole responsibility of the Panchayat raj department,” he said.
Mr Rao said division level panchayat officers, district panchayat officers and other officials of the department should be proactive in implementation of the programme, he said. He reiterated the importance of public representatives of rural local bodies to strive for the success of the green drive. “Otherwise, stern action would be initiated against the officials concerned,” the Chief Minister cautioned.
He took up the lack of proper implementation of developmental programmes in Karimnagar district and said he was not satisfied with performance of the DPO. Showering sops on the Peddapalli Assembly constituency, Mr Rao announced that tail end canals of Sriram Sagar Project would be restored to irrigate agricultural fields. He said the 50-bed hospital would be converted into 100-bed one.
Central lighting system would be installed on Rajiv Rahadari road in Peddapalli and Sultanabad towns, he added. Earlier, he planted a few saplings near the dais of the public meeting.
He lauded Peddapalli MLA D. Manohar Reddy for spending Rs 1 crore for planting 2.5 lakh saplings five years back.
Ministers Eatela Rajender, Jogu Ramanna and Allola Indrakaran Reddy and MP Balka Suman, legislators Ganguala Kamalakar, Putta Madhu, Somarapu Satyanarayana, K. Vidyasagar Rao, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, MLC T. Banu Prasad were present. The CM will visit Warangal on July 9 and 10 to take part in Haritha Haaram programme.
