I’m a feminist says Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt’s Shaandaar co-star Shahid Kapoor has just tied the knot, and the young actress is brimming over with good wishes. When we caught up with her at a suburban hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday, she said, “I’d like to send Shahid lots of love and a big ‘congratulations’! It’s a milestone in his life but we will be soon stealing him away to promote our film as the publicity schedule begins soon.”
Incidentally, Alia just got back from a family holiday in Hyderabad. “It was a short and sweet holiday and Hyderabad is the only place my father (Mahesh Bhatt) will travel to. He hates travelling, and only wants to sit at home! We were at the Falaknuma Palace and that’s the only exception my father would make; we holidayed together after 17 years,” Alia said.
On the work front, Alia has also been roped in as the co-curator for a new channel. She professed surprise at being given the profile, saying, “I never imagined people would want to know my opinion on anything. What I always thought was a disadvantage — my age — became a positive in this case, as I represent the youth and the shows they want to watch.” Of what she prefers to watch on TV, Alia said, “I’m hooked to Orange Is The New Black, as I’m a feminist. I’m also a sucker for reality TV.”
So is she open to judging reality shows as well? “I’m too young to judge other people,” said Alia, adding, “Promoting a film is the best way to appear on reality shows.” We hear you!
