Vyapamgate plot thickens: Student’s death registered as murder, closed as accident

Opposition has claimed that more than 45 had died under mysterious circumstances

New Delhi: The report said Namrata Damor, whose body was found near the railway tracks in Ujjain in January 2012, had died a ‘homicidal’ death caused by ‘violent axphyxia as a result of smothering’. The MP police had registered a murder case following her death, but later closed it, describing it as an ‘accident’.

The Opposition has claimed that more than 45 people had died under mysterious circumstances in the scam and has been demanding Mr Chouhan’s resignation.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and deputy CM Manish Sisodia visited the residence of TV journalist Akshay Singh, who had died soon after interviewing Ms Damor’s parents, in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Wednesday. The Delhi government has also offered a government job to the journalist’s sister.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, which had received the viscera samples of Akshay Singh on Wednesday, set up a medical board of three doctors for the his to pathological and medical exam of the samples.

The institute had received a request from the Madhya Pradesh DGP on Monday for a detailed examination of the internal organs like the heart, liver, kidney and other tissues of the deceased.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court will take up pleas for a CBI probe in the scam. Mr Chouhan said he would also support such a request in the Supreme Court. The MP High court on Wednesday deferred hearing on a state government plea for a probe by the CBI.
