‘Let's catch up over some vada pav and cutting chai after the auction!’

Mumbai City FC and FC Pune City plan a meet over snacks

Mumbai: While they fought it out to buy some of the big stars of the Indian football, it seems FC Pune City and Mumbai City don’t want to miss out on a chance to grab Vada Pav along with cutting chai after the auction.

FC Pune City bagged the first player at the first ever ISL Auction when they bought the 23-year-old winger Jackichand Singh. The Hrithik Roshan-co-owned franchisee bagged one more player when they made Eugeneson Lyngdoh the first ever crorepati at the auction. The Pune-based ISL franchisee paid Rs. 1.02 crore to sign the midfielder.

While Mumbai City FC placed bids for a handful of players, they made a major splash by signing star Indian striker Sunil Chhetri. The Ranbir Kapoor-co-owned team shelled out Rs. 1.2 crore to sign the Indian football team skipper before the ISL Player Auction went in for a small break.

Certainly in a good mood after bagging two key Indian players, FC Pune City invited their ‘noisy neighbours’ over Vada Pav and cutting chai. To Mumbai City FC’s credit, they seemed more than willing to join their Maharashtra derby rivals. In fact, they suggested a place where the two teams could meet.

Even the official broadcasters of the Indian Super League, Star Sports, chipped in with their thoughts while Mumbai City FC confirmed that 'First round of cutting chai on us!'.

While it is not clear whether the ‘Vada Pav’ party will actually take place, it is always wonderful to witness such warmth and banter between the two teams which will be competing for the silverware.
