I open up to all my heroines: Arya
Actor quickly adds that he is friendly with all his heroines and shares his personal feelings
It has been a decade since Arya aka Jamshad entered the film industry, and today he has reached a milestone Vaasuvum Saravanunum Onna Padichavanga (VSOP), a Tamil movie directed by Rajesh is his 25th film. Rajesh is Arya’s favourite director and hence the actor chose to produce the film under his home banner. “If you count my cameos, the number of movies would go up to 50,” says Arya, with a laugh.
Talking about his career, Arya feels that he was fated to become an actor. “After I completed my engineering, I wanted to pursue my higher studies in the US and had even applied for it. Meanwhile, I got an opportunity to work with Jeeva sir who was directing Ullam Ketkume. Films were not my priority then. I thought why not give it a shot before leaving for the US? Unfortunately, that film took three years to complete and by then I started getting offers from others and Arindhum Ariyamalum eventually became my first film that got released.”
Arya says that he is an easy-going person who takes life as it comes. “As far as films are concerned, I have my policy whether it works or not, I give my 100 per cent. Every film is challenging and I strive to give something new with each flick.” His voice and dancing abilities have always been criticised. Ask him about the same, he says, “I know my shortcomings. Over the years I have been practising modulating my voice. Also, my directors Bala sir and Rajesh know how to extract the best voice modulation from me. As far as dance is concerned, I take it as a challenge. I can’t be a Vijay, but I rehearse and prepare myself before the dance routines.”
He is one actor who has been linked with all his co-stars. How does he handle gossip? “I feel good while someone writes about me being linked to an actress. I get worried if they don’t write, as I would think they had forgotten me (laughs). Jokes apart, when people read about me, they have this perception of me being a ‘playboy’. But you ask any of my friends they will tell you that I’m not,” the actor says.
But he quickly adds that he is friendly with all his heroines and shares his personal feelings with them. “I have done the most number of films with Pooja and next in order are Nayanthara, Anushka and Trisha. They are all my close buddies and they all know everything about me.”
On choo-sing to produce his 25th film, he says, “My first co-production was Boss Engira Bhaskaran (BOB) which was a huge hit. The same combination that created BOB — director Rajesh and my friend Santhanam, team up again in VSOP. This is going to be a laugh riot as well, only better than BOB.”
