A big break into Mollywood
The only rival Nivin Pauly has in Premam is his college mate, Justin. The guy he always competes with and who made the college scenes of the movie more interesting by making the hero look more heroic! He is the only negative character in the film, a character one can find in every college corridor. In the film he uses his own name, Justin John.
Post Premam, the actor is walking on air as the film has opened doors and he is on his way to realise his dream of becoming an actor. “I am thrilled. Now, my Facebook friend requests have exceeded the limit and I am getting so many movie offers!” he says excitedly.
The Mala-based animator who came into filmdom through Shebi Chavakkad’s film Plus Two, says that he is really grateful to the Premam team for giving him a big break. “I met them through Siju Wilson, my long time friend. He introduced me to Alphonse and since then I have been with the team. I was a part of the film from its scripting stage. Knowing that my ultimate dream is to act, Alphonse one day asked me to try the role I played and he liked it and I came into the limelight,” says Justin with a smile.
Justin finds the Premam team to be the most fantastic gang he has ever seen so far. “Unlike the other film sets, everybody here are friends and all are ego-free. So I enjoy spending time with them.”
Films were always in Justin’s dreams since childhood. “I used to look at actor Mala Aravindan with wonder, when I was a kid, while going for haircuts near his house. From then on I wanted to be on the silver screen. Being good at drawing, I decided to pursue animation and graphics keeping my dream alive, hoping that one day I will make it into M-Town.”
It was while working in Mega Media, Kochi, he met Shebi Chavakad through his boss who knew about John’s passion for acting. “After Plus Two, I have wandered around knocking on many doors looking for an opportunity to act and now I am glad to be a part of Premam.”
Justin now wants to take careful steps. “So many offers are coming in, but I would prefer to choose my next roles carefully,” he sums up.
