Did you also receive a WhatsApp message about Samsung’s 1000th store? Beware!

A fake message regarding winning a Samsung S6 Edge has been making rounds lately

Every new day there pops a scam or a diddle to trick people. Sadly, most of it happens on social media and other social networks like chat messengers.

The latest is a WhatsApp message that has been circulating rapidly. The message goes something like this: “Have you heard about Samsung’s 1000th store? They are giving 1000 Galaxy S6 Edge for free for the grand opening. You can check here http://bbc.full-news.net/s6/free-s6. The offer is still available.”

When you go through the link, you are asked to answer a few questions for the ‘contest’. This is how it goes:

They ask you a couple of unnecessary questions and just like that you win the contest. And then after they declare that you've qualified the contest, nothing really happens and you are redirectde to the MyFreebie website, and that’s it! You can’t even go back to the same link then.

Essentially, this is a fake message, which has slyly been formed with the name of BBC News in the link to influence a reader. Beware, and do not fall for such a jape!
