Special treatment ready for ‘tardy’ MPs, says CPI
MPs from AP would be felicitated by eunuchs if they failed to get special status
Anantapur: Prathyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi threatened that MPs from Andhra Pradesh would be felicitated by eunuchs if they failed to get special status for AP in coming Parliament sessions.
The Samithi would meet all MPs and present flowers and representations before they leave for the sessions scheduled from July 21. “We will be ready with all arrangements to felicitate the MPs of the state with eunuchs if they fail to get special status during sessions,” CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna said.
Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi was formed to fight for special status and packages for the backward regions of Andhra Pradesh promised during the bifurcation of the state. The committee had organised meeting at Arts College grounds in Anantapur on Wednesday.
Students Oath day was held on the occasion with students, youths, employees, workers and all other unions taking oath to continue the agitation to mount pressure on the Centre for special status along with packages to residuary AP.
CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna recalled the central government had announced special status at the time of introducing the division bill, but rued that not a single promise has been fulfilled in the last one year.
“The MPs instead of pressurising the centre were criticising Janasena founder Pavan Kalyan for questioning their responsibility,” Mr Ramakrishna alleged. AP Forum of Intelle-ctuals’ president Chalasani Prasad observed special status was only solution for strengthening of AP after the unscientific division.
Referring to the tens of thousands of engineering graduates produced every year in the state, Mr Chalasani Prasad said only 5,000 get jobs. Prasad panned MPs of AP for getting sanction for only three smart cities in the state, when their Tamil Nadu counterparts succeeded in getting sanction for 12 smart cities.
“Our state is facing deficit of Rs 15,000 crores but centre released just Rs 2,000 crores and Rs 50 crore towards special packages of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions,” he said.
Actor Madala Ravi called Janasena founder Pavan Kalyan and leaders of all other parties and organizations to join in the agitation for special status
