‘Not as frank as dad, but I won’t be fake either’

Alia Bhatt is her father’s daughter. Much like her dad Mahesh Bhatt, the actress believes in calling a spade a spade and prides herself on never being fake. “We are real people and believe in saying exactly what we feel. I may not be as frank as dad but something I won’t do, is be fake. That’s something that runs in our family,” Alia says.

Speaking of family, the Bhatts have their share of disagreements too — especially when it comes to television. Says Alia, “Like every other family, we barely agree on anything. We have a separate TV in every bedroom because we won’t even agree on what to watch. My dad always wants to watch the news, mom likes some light shows, my sister Shaheen is into sci-fi and I like thrillers and reality TV.

The only thing we really agree on is being ourselves.” The actress who is currently swamped with films — Shandaar, Udta Punjab and Kapoor & Sons — wishes she had more time to spend with her folks. “Given my schedule, I need my family time,” Alia says.
