‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s’ massive opening doesn’t impress Salman Khan

The actor says for him the appreciation and love of audience matters more

Mumbai: ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ might have grossed over Rs 27 crore on the opening day, but superstar Salman Khan says for him the appreciation and love of audience matter more than a film’s commercial success.

The 49-year-old actor is happy with the response his new release has received from the fans. The Kabir Khan directed movie has earned over Rs 27.25 crore on Friday and the distributors expect excellent showing over the weekend. “This Eid, I need appreciation. Now, that the film has released we hope people like the film and appreciate the work of every actor and every other person involved with the film,” he said. “It is not ok if the film does well commercially and doesn’t get appreciation. But if the film doesn’t do well and if the appreciation is more I would prefer that,” he added.

The actor, who has not yet visited any theatre to check audiences’ reaction, said his sister and friends have sent him clips from various halls. Salman said he has been receiving compliments from various quarters but the one, which touched him the most was, “We can’t see Salman crying on-screen.” “They were crying when I cried. But that happens in real life as well if you see a genuine person crying then you also cry,” the ‘Kick’ star said. Many of his die-hard fans have said they missed seeing Salman while watching him in an emotional, soft avatar in “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” as the actor has featured in mostly action films over the last few years. “It is film to film. I did a film called ‘Baghban’ and at the same time I did an action film. So it is about the characters that audience like it… One should play a character be it small or big. “After this I have ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, then ‘Sultan’ and ‘Dabangg 3. I want to do different kind of films,” he added.
