Abhishek Vinod on the lookout for strong characters
Abhishek is busy shooting for an untitled flick with director Bala’s associate Ilango
Thirty-three-year-old Abhishek Vinod is on cloud nine. Being someone who adores Kamal Haasan, nothing could have made him happier than signing Papanasam. “After the film, more offers are coming my way. People have started to recognise me. I thoroughly enjoyed acting with Kamal sir and that was a wonderful learning experience,” says the model-turned-actor.
Currently, Abhishek is busy shooting for an untitled flick with director Bala’s associate Ilango. “I play a negative role, that of a cop in the film. My character in the movie has lots of twists and turns. The film’s shooting has commenced in and around Chennai and is a woman-centric flick. Arundhati of Thottal Thodarum fame plays the lead in it,” he tells DC. Abhishek says his entry into Tamil film industry was never planned. “I have been doing modelling for 14 years and cinema happened all of a sudden. When the makers of Papanasam approached me, I grabbed the offer. After all, who would refuse the chance of working in a Kamal film,” he smiles.
Having a couple of projects lined up in Tollywood, Abhishek says, he’s game for any interesting role and open to any industry, provided there’s something to perform. What would his dream role be? “I wanted to do something like what Vikram did in Sethu and Pithamagan,” he signs off.
