I did not approach Ajith for the Baasha sequel: Suresh Krissna
There have been rumours doing the rounds that ace director Suresh Krissna has completed the script for a sequel to his blockbuster hit Baasha which gave Rajinikanth a cult status in Tamil film industry. The movie, which is apparently one of Rajini’s favourites, set a trend in terms of its content. The buzz is that Suresh initially approached Rajini for the film but since the latter declined, the director is said to be toying with the idea of replacing Rajini with Ajith for the sequel.
One may recall that Ajith had made a powerful comeback with the remake of Rajini’s other gangster film Billa. However, when DC contacted Suresh, the filmmaker rubbishes it as a baseless rumour. “It is true that I just discussed a possible sequel to Baasha with Rajini sir long back. Since sir does not believe in sequels, he was not keen to work on it. I just left it at that, that’s all. I am not ready with a detailed script for a sequel as the reports claim.”
He adds, “I do agree that sequels are in vogue these days and everyone would want to cash on his (Rajini’s) brand. But I have not approached Ajith for Baasha’s sequel. But given a chance, I would love to work with Ajith with any script.”
