Delhi Metro Rail Corporation refutes Tony Chammany’s allegations

In a media release, the DMRC said that even before the commencement of Metro works, there used to be water- logging on MG Road, especially during high tide.

“This year, the DMRC had taken special efforts to clean up all the drains after completing piling works. Apart from this, an agency has been assigned to clear the drains

whenever necessary,” said the release.

At the northern end of MG Road near Seematti, the land was handed over to the DMRC only two months ago and piling work has been continuing here. Three pumps have been kept at the location to empty the drain whenever required. Hence, the reports on the blockage in drains during heavy rain are baseless, according to DMRC sources.

Last week, Mr. Chammany served a notice on the DMRC asking it to repair the drains that were damaged due to the Metro works and to avoid water-logging.

The traders of MG Road submitted a complaint to the Mayor alleging that the drains near Seematti had been filled while drilling for Metro pillars resulting in unusual flooding in the area.
