Actress Anita Raj is back on TV, this time playing mother to Siddhant Karnick’s character in Ek Tha Raja, Ek Thi Rani. In playing royalty, she tells us Maharani Gayatri Devi is her inspiration for the role.
Anita says, “I play the rajmata so I’ve tried to retain the elegance that Maharani Gayatri Devi had, while playing this character, to make it believable. It isn’t easy shooting in the heat of Rajasthan for days together, draped in heavy saris and full-sleeved blouses. Add to that royal mannerisms!”
The actress who has maintained her youthful looks all these years, credits it to a healthy lifestyle. “I am an early riser and jog up to 10 kilometres before the shoot. I also can’t do without listening to Buddhist chants every morning.”
