Chennai: The state unit of BJP is shocked over the unbridled attacks on its leaders. The latest victim is national vice-president of all India Yuva morcha A.P. Muruganandam.
The attack on his house in Coimbatore has come close on the petrol bomb attack on BJP national secretary H. Raja’s house in Karaikudi (in Sivaganga district on July 13). “I have a feeling that someone is closely monitoring my movements.
The incident occurred after I returned home at 2.45 am (on Saturday) from the airport. The CCTV installed at my house where my parents are staying has recorded the attack by a group,” explained an upset Mr Muruganandam.
While three persons damaged the gate, others caused damage to the car parked inside the house and broke the windows. The attackers fled from the scene. Though the cause of the attack is still unclear, leaders in the saffron party claim the series of attacks on their leaders is meant to cause panic.
“It is some kind of a psychological attack meant to terrify us or part of a larger plan. But whatever may be the cause, the police should take serious note of it and bring the culprits to book,” a senior leader said.
Two years ago, the saffron party lost its state general secretary V. Ramesh who was hacked to death by an unknown gang inside the compound of his house in Maravaneri area in Salem and the police are yet to nab the culprits. The second anniversary meet organised by the party on July 19 in Salem was a solemn affair and the party members under state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan paid tributes to Ramesh.
Regretting that the suspects have not been arrested so far, Dr Tamilisai said the family and also the party were yet to get justice. She also condemned the attack on Muruganandam’s house and urged the police to take swift action.
