Australia ‘A', the team to beat in tri-series
Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile is one of the biggest beneficiaries
Chennai: The lucrative Indian Premier League has turned around the fortunes of quite a few cricketers. Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile is one of the biggest beneficiaries. Almost bankrupt, Coulter-Nile was thrown a new lease of life when Mumbai Indians snapped him up for $450,000 in the 2013 auction. The IPL experience also held him in good stead as he went on to make his ODI debut for the Aussies.
Back in India as part of the one-day squad to play the tri-series that begins here at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, Coulter-Nile said the Aussies would thrive on their IPL experience. “The squad has a few players (James Pattinson, Callum Ferguson and Chris Lynn) who have tasted the Indian conditions playing for IPL teams. We will try to pass on as much information as possible on the conditions to other players,” said Coulter-Nile, who switched from Mumbai to Delhi for the last season.
Australia ‘A’, who will take on South Africa ‘A’ in the opener on Wednesday, will carry the tag of favourites after their impressive show in the two four-day matches against India ‘A’.
