Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday got four brand new Toyota Prados for his convoy. The CM’s convoy comprises two Toyota Prados and four Toyota Fortuners. These four Fortuners have been replaced by Prados. The ‘all-Prado convoy’ is considered to be the most expensive among all the CMs.
Sources in state government’s Intelligence and Security Wing which monitors the security of the CM and other VIPs, said that only two out of four Prados have been bullet-proofed.
Though the government kept the budget details of Prados confidential, sources revealed that each Prado was purchased for '88 lakh and another Rs 15 lakh was spent on bullet-proofing.
Special pujas were performed for the new vehicles at Yadadri temple on Wednesday after which Mr Rao came to the Secretariat in the new convoy. The existing convoy was black in colour. Mr Rao got the vehicles repainted white following suggestions from astrologers in Septe-mber 2014.
Earlier, in April this year, the security for the CM’s convoy was tightened with the addition of most advanced ‘bullet-proof fire fighter’ vehicle, at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore. The vehicle, which leads the convoy, can seat six police personnel armed with latest weapons.
