Samsung confirms August 14 for next Galaxy launch event

Samsung has confirmed the date for the event with a countdown on its website

Samsung’s Philippines website has listed the date and time for the next Galaxy launch event with a large countdown timer. The website shows off the timer with five days and a few hours remaining for the event to start. The site also mentions that that the Korean Giant is aiming to make the Galaxy Note 5 even better than what it is by putting up the following words ‘We were the first to make them BIG. Now we’re making BIG even BETTER. Are you ready to Live BIG?’

The website has displayed all the Galaxy smartphone models in a row, beginning from the S to the S6 and the last one kept as suspense with ‘What’s Next’

Though there are no details or teasers about the device’s looks and design, a Taiwanese website, seems to have listed a teaser with a partial side-profile of the device with the S-pen stylus on top of it. This denotes that the Galaxy Note 5 could have borrowed designs from the Galaxy S6 with a unique metal frame and edges and also a slimmer profile.

As for now, the speculations for the two smartphones seem to be doing quite a few rounds on the internet. Even though the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus may sport a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, these premium looking handsets will carry distinct features. Media reports state that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7422 processor, whereas, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to be equipped by a Snapdragon 808 chipset.

A report by SamMobile stated that Samsung has been testing the Exynos 7430 chipset and a 4K display for the device. However, the company has decided to fuel its future devices with Exynos 7422 and a 2K display. On its camera front, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will likely sport a 16MP rear shooter and 5MP front-facing camera. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus phablet will definitely run on the latest version of Android Lollipop operating system and is speculated to offer 32GB of in-built storage.
