A film about ‘Someone who’s weird’

Victor Jayaraj got to narrate his script to dancer-actor Prabhu Deva
Debutante director Victor Jayaraj couldn’t be happier that he got to narrate his script to dancer-actor Prabhu Deva. “I have worked as an assistant to AL Vijay for films like Thalaivaa and Deiva Thirumagal, and I conduct acting workshops regularly. During one such workshop, I met Prabhu Deva and told him a story. He liked it so much that he agreed to produce the film,” smiles Victor.
Touted to be a psycho-emotional, dark themed, the film’s lead is the grandson Varun of yesteryear’s actor-turned-politician Isari Velan. “I met Varun in an acting workshop for editor Antony’s film Night Show. I loved his performance and wanted to be cast in the film,” says Victor. Interestingly, the film is based on the life of director himself. “When I was working on Thalaivaa with Vijay sir, I was battling depression. I have since recovered from it. So, the script is based on what I witnessed as a depressed person. The film is largely based on a disorder human beings suffer from, and this forms the crux of a story. We have titled the film Vinodhan, with the tagline ‘Someone Who’s Weird’,” he tells us. Vinodhan has Madhan Karky penning the dialogues and D Imman scoring music.
