I didn’t like to be bossed around: Jasmine Bhasin
Jasmine Bhasin and Zain Imam play the leads in Zee’s latest offering Tashan-e-Ishq. While Zain is new to the business, Jasmine has a couple of South Indian films to her credit.
Jasmine says, “I am born and brought up in Kota, Rajasthan. I did my graduation in hospitality in Jaipur. When I was working, I started getting offers in modelling and did a few South films. My debut film was Vaanam, where I played the lead opposite Simbu.”
About her character she elaborates, “Twinkle is a very bubbly and fun-loving girl. She is a typical Punjabi kudi and a complete drama queen. Being a Punjabi, I can connect with my role.”
On the other hand Zain didn’t have it as easy. “I had to go through several rounds of auditions and mock shoots with different girls to crack it.”
Working with senior actors such as Eva Grover and Vaishnavi Mcdonald can be intimidating on your very first show. Jasmine says, “I am very happy since (except Zain and Siddhant) all are veteran actors and we are learning from them every day. Vaishnavi ma’am and I have a lot of scenes together. We get along very well and I get to learn a lot from her.” Zain adds, “Being newcomers, sometimes we miss out on reactions during a scene, but they cover it up so well. They are chilled out and helpful.”
About pursuing an acting career, Jasmine says, “I always wanted to be an actor and my parents were happy with my decision. But that happened later. They were apprehensive initially because I have an MBA degree and I used to work for American Express’ marketing team. But I decided to take the plunge because I didn’t like to be bossed around.”
