The talk of the town is obviously Shanthanu Bhagyaraj’s nuptials to Maanada Mayilada anchor Keerthi Vijay. The pretty bride-to-be, affectionately known as Kiki, will have nothing short of the best for her bridal wardrobe. Here’s a glimpse into her amazing wardrobe — hens night dress by Sidney Sladen, mehendhi by Swapna Reddy, reception by Anushree Reddy and the wedding ensemble by her mum-in-law Poornima Bhagyaraj. Poornima, an actress of superb mettle, is also known for her embroidery skills. We cannot wait to see the creation, which is supposed to be an embroidered blouse. Tonight’s party will see Kiki walk in one of my creations — an elaborate cocktail gown. I don’t want to spoil the surprise by giving away too many details about the dress. A hint? — Think dramatic, think crystals!

Amala Paul’s red carpet ensemble for the SIIMA awards is on everybody’s minds and lips. Styled by Pallavi Singh, it was a perfect combination of traditional, while being sexy at the same time. The plain black sari that I designed featured a simple embroidered pallu. The rich, embroidered blouse by Gaurang Shah provided the perfect balance. A great addition to this ethnic look was the gold nose ring by Amprapali Jewels. She carried it off really well. The contemporary twist on the sari will also work well for young brides as a cocktail outfit instead of a typical western look.
