THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor's son and journalist Kanishk got married to US-based poet Amanda Calderon in New York.
Kanishk and Ishaan, also a journalist with The Washington Post, are twin sons of Mr Tharoor and his first wife Tilottama, a university professor in New York. Kanishk is now involved in a special writing assignment.
Sources close to Mr Tharoor said the wedding was attended only by close relatives including Mr Tharoor's mother and sisters.
The couple is planning to come down to Kerala in December and a reception is being planned in Thiruvananthapuram on December 24 and another one in New Delhi after.
Announcing the marriage, Tharoor tweeted on Sunday: “In New York to attend and celebrate the wedding of my son @KanishkTharoor with Amanda Calderon. A time of great joy.” He also tweeted, “The groom sets out to lose his independence on Independence Day!”
