‘There’s no stress,’ says Satish Kaushik
Actor-director Satish Kaushik is back on TV, playing Namit Das’s father on Sumit Sambhal Lega. Satish admits, “I didn’t know much about the original, Everybody Loves Raymond, when I was offered the show. Then I read the script and found out that it ran for nine years in the US.
Plus, it is a finite show and we had the American crew come down and rehearse with us, conduct workshops… Everything was so professional, I had no reason to refuse. Also, the episodes were shot much in advance so there’s no stress of completing episodes in time.”
He says that the timeline of SSL was interesting to him for another reason as well. “I would also love to direct a finite show for TV,” Satish tells us. “Shows than run for years together make you stagnant.”
Speaking about his connection with TV, Satish says, “People still recall my show Philips Top 10 with Pankaj Kapoor. Those characters were lovable. Now Anil Kapoor’s 24 has opened doors for more film actors to come to TV and it’s no lesser a medium (than films).”
For now, Satish is having a lot of fun with his co-stars Namit, Manasi Parekh Gohil and Bharti Achrekar on the sets. “Besides being good actors, they are all singers, so they have fun singing together aur main besura inke beech mein phas gaya,” he says, with a laugh.
