New Delhi: A year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, 56 per cent or 8.4 crore of the 15 crore accounts opened under it were zero balance or dormant accounts, till April 30, 2015.
Zero deposit accounts meant that no transaction had been undertaken in them since they were opened. Mr Modi had announced the scheme in his maiden Independence Day speech.
