A home made from simplicity
Away from the noise of the city and amidst greenery, is located the gated community where M.A.S. Reddy, Deputy Director General (Public Grievances), Indian Telecom Service, owns a villa. He resides in the 5,000 sq. ft villa with wife Kusuma.
Having lived in the government quarters in Jubilee Hills throughout his time in Hyderabad, this is the first home that Reddy owns.
Enter their home and the ground floor is done in white and gold. “We wanted a very simple home, because it’s just the two of us. Our son is in the US and he might come home after two years,” says M.A.S. Reddy.
They also wanted space in their home and so a few structural changes were made. “Earlier there was a partition for the living room but we removed it and decided to have one huge hall. That’s because we have another family lounge upstairs,” he says.
Adding to the list of changes, their interior designer Rupana Reddy says, “The lift in their home had glass on all sides. So, I suggested a sculpture work on one side. It has an eye shaped design on it, as it will be the first thing one sees on entering their home.”
While the ground floor has a contemporary design, the first floor has a traditional touch with blue and gold everywhere.
Most of the furniture in their home is old and the upholstery has been changed. “It was one of the challenges actually, to fit the old furniture in a new space,” says Rupana.
The family lounge has old furniture with the old fabric on it. And even the balcony on the same floor has furniture that M.A.S. Reddy had bought when he was stationed in Shillong long back.
