New entrant on the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa judges panel, Ganesh Hegde tells us what he feels about the show, his rapport with his co-judges and more. Excerpts from an interview:
The trio of Remo-Madhuri-Karan has been so popular. What are your thoughts on stepping in?
I have been wary of doing reality shows as there’s not much to do besides sitting and judging. Jhalak Reloaded has a new vibe with Shahid stepping in and it makes for a very on-your-feet kind of show. The energy is very up-tempo and we have lots of fun.
What kind of equation do you share with Karan and Shahid?
Karan is an icon. His words are magnanimous. His equation with people and how he finds a comfort zone in everything is something to learn from. And I have really learnt a lot from him. Shahid is a nice and humble guy — he goes out of the way to help people. Plus, he has a mad, funny vibe with gels well with my whacky mind. We are up to some mischief or the other always.
Who are the contestants you are particularly impressed with?
I like the entire team. People who are non-dancers really move you with their perseverance. I really like Sanaya, Vivian and Mohit who are non dancers and yet continue to give a tough fight to other contestants. But my all time favourite is Shubreet.
How do the judges spe-nd time during breaks?
The usual, we nibble on food while chatting about the acts and replying to questions on Twitter.
Any upcoming film project?
Besides shows and event management, I am busy with my film script. We hope to go on floors early next year.
