Doctors’ panel wants Osmania General Hospital towers ready in 2 years
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government Doctors’ Association’s appeal is that new towers of the Osmania General Hospital must be constructed and handed over within two years.
Government, private and junior doctors have come together with the alumni of the Osmania Medical College to demand that the new OGH buildings must be completed soon.
Dr Gopal Kishan, former superintendent of the hospital, who has got all the doctors on one platform, said, “We are happy that the Chief Minister has taken stock of OGH. We want the healthcare services to be improved. At the same time, the safety of patients, doctors and paramedical staff is important. To ensure that it happens smoothly, patients must be shifted and construction work must be taken up. There are 26 acres of land available and it is important that it be utilised for better services.”
Dr Kishan said, Construction of a modern hospital requires expertise. The government can constitute a committee with representatives from alumni, engineers, architects, NGOs and elected representatives to find a solution and monitor progress. It is important that the project is time-bound.”
The doctors want the new OGH buildings to be completed the way the new campus for Gandhi Hospital was developed in two years at the premises of the jail in Musheerabad.
