Big boost for tourism in Visakhapatnam

Resorts to come up in Dallapalli and a butterfly park is also planned
Visakhapatnam: In a big boost to the tourism sector in Visakhapatnam district, AP Tourism Development Corporation has come up with a plan to build tourist resorts in lush green Dallapalli of Paderu mandal. Dallapalli is a tiny hamlet situated at an altitude of 3,500 feet above the sea level in the Eastern Ghats and is located 85 kms towards west from Vishakhapatnam.
Considering its geographical and topographical advantages and tourism potentiality, tourism officials had zeroed in on it. The hamlet registers moderate temperatures in scorching summer months, boasts a tranquil environment and verdant surroundings. Plans are also afoot for a butterfly park near the resorts.
Speaking to this correspondent, Ramesh Babu, Revenue Administrative Officer of Paderu, said, “At the directive of the officials, we had already earmarked 5 acres for this project in Dallapalli.”
Paderu and the surrounding Agency mandals have been seeing heavy tourist influx in the last few years. And nearby Lambasingi, which acquired the sobriquet of “Andhra Kashmir” by registering minus degree temperatures in peak winter season, is also drawing tourists. But the lack of night stay facilities is forcing the visitors to leave the place before the sunset. Hence, officials are planning resorts near Paderu.
A. Sirisha, tourist information officer, said, “I don’t know why nobody explored this tiny hamlet near Paderu before, which even has mobile connectivity. Given its height up from the sea level and curiously located amidst greenery, it serves as a great natural viewpoint.
The pleasant weather also makes it a good gateway for tourists. We had already sent the initial report to the AP tourism officials.”
Confirming the project details, APTDC Division GM G. Bheema Sankara Rao explained, “Technical feasibility study is undergoing for the project, which would be finalised within the next few days. The project spans 5 acres and we are also mulling over constructing a butterfly park near the hamlet.”
4 new safe beaches in Visakhapatnam soon:
In a proposal for developing safe beaches in Visakhapatnam, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation had identified four new locations in the city – Thotla-konda, Mangamari-peta, Sagarnagar and Endada beaches.
“Taking this new project forward, State human resources minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will set the foundation stone for the beaches on Wednesday at the site opposite to the Thotlakonda arch,” informed tourism regional commissioner and Vuda vice-chairman T. Baburao Naidu. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrish-nudu, PR minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Zilla Parishad chairperson Lalam Bhavani, Vizag MP K. Haribabu are expected to attend the programme.
