KOCHI: Lavanyam-2015, Onam celebrations organised by the district administration in association with the city corporation, will begin at the Durbar Hall Ground on Wednesday.
The weeklong festivities will start with a ceremonious procession from Mari-ne Drive to the DH Ground.
Folk art and other dance forms illustrating the state’s rich culture and tradition will add colour to the rally.
Ministers, legislators and prominent film and cultural personalities will attend the official inauguration to be held after the procession.
The cultural programmes will begin with a dance performance by Uthara Unni. Folk music night by Valluvanadan Krishna Kalanilayam is another major attraction at the inaugural function.
Music, dance, comedy skits and other cultural programmes will be organised every day at DH Ground till August 31. ‘Sing India with Jerry Amaldev’, music night by noted composer Jerry Amaldev, Chakyarkooth by Devan Kakkad, comedy mega show by Kottayam Nazeer, music show by ‘Dhimi’ band, performance by noted playback singers Najeem Arshad and Mridula Warrier, comedy show by Guinness Pakru, Saju Navodaya, Biju Kuttan and Devi Chandana and a music performance by ace lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and son Deepankuran will be some of the major attractions of Lavanyam – 2015.
