Congress gears up for Maharashtra fight against MIM

Congress has decided to expose the Owaisi brothers within the Muslim community.

Mumbai: In a bid to stop All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) from expanding its base in Mumbai and Maharashtra, the Congress has decided to expose the Owaisi brothers within the Muslim community.

As part of the plan, a five-member team will meet people in certain pockets and explain to them how MIM has been trying to divide the community with the help of BJP. Five Muslim leaders will be sent to Muslim pockets in every assembly constituency for the same.

The leaders will inform people about decisions taken in favour of Muslims during Congress reign apart from exposing Owaisi brothers.

Senior Congress leader Naseem Khan said MIM was the only threat to the party as it was polarising Muslim votes. He agreed that MIM was the major factor behind Congress losing in several assembly constituencies, with Muslim voters being the deciding factor in at least 130 out of 288 constituencies across Maharashtra.

Welcoming Congress’ decision MIM, party legislator Imtiaz Jaleel said, “It seems the Congress is afraid of MIM.”
