Narendra Modi feels Patel agitation was failure of intelligence

The PM has expressed displeasure over the claim

New Delhi: The suddenness with which the Patel community’s quota agitation erupted across Gujarat, and now poses a tough challenge to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, has not been taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi too kindly.

The PM has expressed displeasure over the claim and has considered it an “intelligence failure”, sources said.

It is also learnt that the PM has voiced displeasure to national security adviser Ajit Doval, and, reportedly, may bring in new faces in the intelligence community.

Mr Modi is also not happy with the way Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has been handling the situation, being spearheaded by the 22-year-old Hardik Patel.

It is also assumed that Mr Modi is annoyed with the agitation that happened that brought down the Gujarat government to its knees. Further, the CM’s relying on the Army to bring law and order situation under control, with the agitation claiming 10 lives across Gujarat. Tension, however, eased across Gujarat on Friday, with no fresh violence. Curfew was lifted in three areas in Ahmedabad.
