TV chills and thrills
The set of a TV show isn’t usually the most unsafe of spots. But that doesn’t mean that our telly stars haven’t encountered their fair share of spooky encounters and mishaps when on the job! We got popular actors to share the scariest moment they’ve had while shooting for their shows — and found that from a possible haunting to theft and even wild animals — these stars have seen it all!

We were once shooting at Panvel at a farm for a TV show. This was at 3 am. I was taking pictures of my co-star when I suddenly realised that there was a shadow that got captured in the frame as well. When we all saw the picture, we released the shadow was that of a figure, with a crown on his head. Everyone was so scared, we just could not sleep after that! The thought of it still fills me with fear!

I was shooting at Film City and had heard of leopards being there in the vicinity. I was leaving for my home after the shoot when I suddenly realised that my car was not starting. And then I saw a leopard standing behind a tree! I couldn’t even get out of the car. It was really scary. Then a production vehicle came and I showed them the leopard. After some time, the leopard went away and I took a lift from the production house guys.

I was in my room when a thief tried to enter my vanity. This was well past midnight. I assumed he was from the crew because he kept asking me if he could clean the room. I got suspicious, especially since my laptop and other valuables were stored in my vanity. So I pushed him out and closed the door. I called up the production crew who tried to catch him, but he bit them and managed to get away.

Once on the set, I noticed a shadow following me. I yelled at the top of my voice and my co-stars came rushing. No one initially believed me when I said I have seen a ghost but when I showed them the footsteps of a person — even when no one had entered my vanity — everyone finally believed me. It still gives me goose bumps when I think of it.

I was shooting an extremely emotional scene with my co-star for Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan. The shot required us to be seated and close ups were being taken. There were lights above me and I had tears in my eyes because we were filming an emotional scene — and right then, a jet black lizard dropped into my lap! I went mad and got up from my chair. First I ended up hitting the lights and then I just ran away and didn’t return for a very long time! I am very scared of lizards. I got a huge bump on my head because of hitting the lights but I was so scared that I didn’t even feel the pain until a couple of hours later when I had cooled down.

Once I was shooting at Mira Road on the highway. Suddenly a Mercedes came into our lane and I would have been injured had I not jumped out of the way on time. The girl driving the car had pressed the accelerator instead of the brake! I was really scared to shoot on the road for many days after that incident.

The set where my show Mere Angne Mein is located, is full of snakes. During the monsoons, we get to see snakes slithering outside our makeup rooms as well. So there is this constant fear when we shoot. The scariest moment was when I was returning to my room post-pack up one night; this was at about 9 pm, when I sensed the presence of a snake near my foot. So I switched on the torchlight on my phone and directed it at the ground, and there was actually a snake there! I shouted loudly and ran away. After that incident, someone from the production house always drops me back to my makeup room.
