Pawandeep Rajan wants to work for Bollywood
Pawandeep Rajan, from Shaan’s team, has won the first season of The Voice India. Both the winner and his coach are visibly ecstatic. Shaan admits that he is happy to have mentored Pawan. He says, “I gave equal attention to all my contestants but Pawandeep has, of course, made me proud with his efforts. We have spent five months together, and share a lovely camaraderie. After the win, we partied till 3 am.”
Pawandeep now has signed up for an album with the music label Universal (part of the deal) and hopes the win helps him gain ground in Bollywood. The newly crowned winner, whose father is a folk singer, adds that he even formed a band in Chandigarh last year to pursue his musical ambition.
He says, “This is the first time I have participated in the reality show and I am glad to have won it. I have played tabla at the age of two-and-a-half years and even hold a world record for it. My next aim is to work for Bollywood.”
Pawandeep now plans to make Mumbai his home. He says, “I plan to settle in Mumbai and take up work here. I want to keep in touch with some co-contestants like Sachet Tondon, Parampara Thakur and Vishal Gangurde who have become good friends now.”
Shaan hasn’t signed off from his role as a mentor as yet. The playback singer is looking to helping Pawandeep even after the show has ended. He says, “I intend to keep him under my wing for now. Once he gets confident, the opportunities are unlimited. He just needs the right guidance.”
