Sheena murder case: Police piles 4 more charges
Mumbai: In a fresh trouble for Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjiv Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai, the police have added four more sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempt to murder, in the Sheena Bora murder case.
The police on Monday informed the Bandra magistrate court that investigations have revealed that the apart from killing Sheena, the accused had allegedly conspired to murder her brother Mikhail as well and they had made an attempt on his life as well but could not succeed and hence four more charges have been added against them.
According to the police, they have recorded the statement of Mikhail who has said that Indrani allegedly wanted to kill him the same day that Sheena was murdered. The police has said that accused had spiked Mikhail’s drink but you could not succeed in taking his life.
Now, the police has added Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 202 (Intentional omission to give information of offence by person bound to inform) and 203 (Giving false information respecting an offence committed) on the accused.
Objecting to the addition of charges, defence lawyers Gunjan Mangla, appearing for Indrani and Hrisikesh Mundargi, on behalf of Sanjiv, had claimed that the allegations made against their clients are false. Advocate Mangla argued the media reports have claimed that police have interrogated her client for about 80 to 90 hours during six days of custody and have almost received all the information they required but are still seeking their further custody not to investigate the case but to create evidence against the accused.
