Salman Khan to reprise Ravi’s role in Thani Oruvan remake?
Many Bollywood and Tollywood producers are vying for the film’s remake rights
Thani Oruvan (TO) directed by Mohan Raja starring Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara in the lead, released last Friday and is creating huge ripples at the box office. The thriller, which is about the conflict between good and evil, was well-received for the interesting dimension and vision brought out by Raja as well as actors Ravi, Arvind Swami and Nayanthara.
Now, the big news is that many Bollywood and Tollywood producers are vying for the film’s remake rights. We hear that Salman Khan has shown keen interest to acquire its remake rights to produce it by his home banner, besides acting in the lead role in Hindi. Close aides of Mohan Raja confirm that a special screening of TO was held in Mumbai for the top decision makers of Salman’s production company on Tuesday. Apparently, he will be watching it today (on Wednesday), and insiders say that they are considering bringing Mohan Raja on board for directing the Hindi remake as well.
“Raja sir is excited and keeping his fingers crossed for the results from B’town,” a source from the unit reveals. Yet another development is that members of all major production houses from T’town were in Chennai recently to watch Thani Oruvan at a special screening. If all goes well, Mohan Raja will also direct the Telugu version with one of the top five stars from Tollywood to play Jayam Ravi’s role.
