Women’s college ties up with Rotary to save nature

Organised a function in the college to install its office-bearers.

COONOOR: The Providence College for Women (PCW) in Coonoor has joined hands with the Rotary club of Ooty town to focus on nature conservation.

Stating this, sister V.J. Sheela, principal of the college said that the Rotaract club of PCW, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ooty town, organised a function in the college to install its office-bearers.

While Divya was sworn as president of the Rotaract club of the college, Soundarya assumed office at its vice-president, Shanu as secretary and Saranya as joint secretary. Rtn. Rahamath who addressed the gathering spoke at length about the need for serving the community while in college. This would go a long way in serving the country too, he said.

He said that the theme of this year for the Rotaract club is “Save Nature”, and appealed to student members to work towards it. Mr Sivalingan, staff co-ordinator of the college said that students are trained in personality development and leadership development skills in the Rotaract club.
