Model and actress Arshi Khan has been grabbing eyeballs for being embroiled in multiple controversies. She has been going to town about having had an affair with married Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi. She said to a website, “Yes, I slept with Afridi. So what? Do I need your permission to do so? I am single and not married. I can sleep with a man if I like him. I like Afridi and it was love at first sight. Even Afridi reciprocated my feelings. I first met him at The Taj Mahal Hotel in Colaba. We became friends and kept in touch.”
The actress admits to have been at the receiving end of a lot of backlash from the Pakistani media. She says she tried to keep the noise about the ‘affair’ low because Afridi is married. “They (Pakistani media) accused me of trying to taint their cricketer’s image. I hope the Indian media supports me,” Arshi said.
She has also spoken of receiving threats from Pakistan since August 30, around the time when the news of her affair got out. “What hurt me more was that a lot of Indians abused me too. People even threatened to throw acid on me. Afridi’s fans also threatened to kill me. I have filed a complaint in the Malad west police station and one in my hometown Bhopal as well,” she reveals.
The actress reveals that she is of Afghani origin but her family has settled in Bhopal. “I have always enjoyed modelling, so I came to Mumbai in 2013 to do that,” she says. She has a few films in south in hand. “My Telugu film Love Success with Chandrababu has gone on floors in Hyderabad. I also have two Tamil movies in hand.”
Arshi goes on to speak about another controversial character, Radhe Maa. She minces no words while speaking of her. Arshi mentioned that she was introduced to her by a friend and that the ‘holy woman’ tried to convince her to be part of her camp that is into ‘galat kaam’. “She assured me that I would get fame if I follow her directions. I was lucky to realise in time that she was up to no good and I managed to save myself.” She has no kind words for Radhe Maa’s supporters either. “Radhe is a holy name among Hindus, so it’s sad that Hindus like Rakhi Sawant are supporting her. I don’t think Rakhi got her film because of Radhe Maa, maybe she got the role because of her galat kaam.”
Currently there are loud whispers doing the rounds that she has been signed for the upcoming season of reality show heavy weight Bigg Boss. “Yes, I have been approached by Bigg Boss season 9 but there isn’t any clarity on whether or not I am going in,” Arshi says.
